Tahina is a wholesome, nutritious food of purely plant origin, made exclusively of hulled, slightly roasted and ground sesame seeds, rich in protein and calcium. You can use in salad dressings, houmous, tahina soups or in fillings (with chopped olives, pepper etc.), or mixed with honey as a sweet spread.
It is made of tahina and white caramel, often with the addition of dried fruits, nuts or honey. It has always been a popular lent sweetmeat due to its purely plant ingredients and the high nutritional value. It is also an ideal everyday dessert for serving after a lunch or dinner, or with coffee.
